Here's an article that tells about the merging of the two companies -- Amazon & Goodreads: techcrunch.com/2013/03/28/amazon-acquires-social-reading-site-goodreads/Here's at statement made by an article on the Forbes website: "Because book reviews on Goodreads are identifiable (tied to a social profile), they are harder to manipulate. This may add a new and more credible review source to Amazon’s internal reviews."Article-Quote Link Source: www.forbes.com/sites/davidvinjamuri/2013/03/29/three-hidden-benefits-of-the-amazon-acquisition-of-goodreads/I could be wrong but this could possibly kill the war between indies and troll reviewers because Amazon is recognizing more and more trash reviewing to be legitimate and appropriate. On the other hand, Amazon could clean up GD but my suspicion is that if they do, it will be on a limited basis and troll reviews will continue to be allowed. PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG AMAZON! (I had to modify this post because it was first titled "Amazon is Buying Goodreads" but the acquisition has already taken place.)

I wondered if this might be a good thing. Amazon is in the business of selling books. Vandalised pages don't sell books.

I am certainly hoping for the best with that Buy out. I am crossing my fingers for Amazon to clean out the caca from GR

I sent a query to Amazon Support, through both their KDP and CreateSpace divisions, asking if they will be removing malicious posts and reviews, especially those with blatant obscenities in them. They sent me two different emails in response, saying they were still keeping my question in consideration ( ) and to give them more time to provide me an answer. I afterward received the following email: " Hello ____,
Thanks for your comments about Goodreads. (Note: I didn't make any comments about Goodreads, other than my question regarding malicious reviews/comments on the site)We'll consider your concerns as we plan further improvements. Publisher feedback serves an important role in helping us to improve our platform and provide better service.
At this time, we do not have any additional information regarding the Goodreads acquisition.
Thanks for taking time to offer us your thoughts.
Regards,
Sai V."Amazon will be making a terrible mistake if they decide to turn a blind eye to the massive numbers of vile comments found on the Goodreads site. People will naturally apply how they handle the issue, to the overall reputation of the Amazon companies. We will all be watching to see what happens.

They are carefully saying nothing. A campaign may be in order. I noted that STGRB has a petition in progress, but it seems to focus on Amazon reviews rather than the GR acquisition. I have access to several small publishers. I wonder if a publisher-based petition would gain notice. Contacting the big 6 isn't that scary of an idea. With Anne Rice under attack again, we could gain some serious support.
The key to any good campaign is to seek specific targets. Amazon is in the business of sales. Negative Listopias would be an easy target.
